Subject: alarm doesn’t go off when i open the door

I just got my alarm installed (Viper 671xv)at a local shop in my 1998 Honda civic HB. I don't have power door locks, so i decided to do it myself. So i got 2 524n and the 451m for my doors. I hooked everything up fine and started to test everything out. Door worked like they should. This morning i figured i would test my alarm out, so i armed the car and with the windows down i unlocked the car through the window. Then after i opened the door to see if it will go off, it didn't even make a sound.

Could there be something wrong with the way i hooked up the door relay?
Wrong wiring? Any help would be nice.Thanks.

Is your alarm led on constant now when the ignition is off? You are in valet mode. It happened when you hit LOCK, UNLOCK, then LOCK one after the other while testing the door locks.

When you open the door does the domelight come on? Honda doorswitches are known for rusting and not making good contact.

I did lock and unlocked it a couple of times, but wasn't sure if it was in valet mode. How do i switch it to "Normal"?

Yes the dome light does turn on when the door is open

Did you wait a minute or two before trying?

Maybe it's delayed in arming (look through the manual to see if it mentions this or anything along these lines...)

Have you run the green wire from the alarm to the door contact or dome-light (think it's GREEN/ red)? If you're in valet mode the LED wil stay on all the time.

Yes the green from the alarm is tap to the GREEN/ red.

I was reading the book and it said something about Bypassed Notification. i went to arm the alarm, the remote beeped once and the orange LED light flash 3 times (letting me know its armed). 2 seconds after the orange LED flashed 6 times and the siren indicator (red) lights on for 3 seconds. In the book it says that the system has detected an open door, hood or trunk has been bypassed.

Thanks for the help guys.....

Thaks to the people above for helping out. I fixed it. it was the (+)door switch wire. I tapped it with the 451m constant wire. i took it out and everything was back to normal. once again thanks 12volt people posted_image
