I just finished installing a Viper 5900 alram with remote start.  Everything works as advertised UNTIL  I arm the alarm which locks the doors (turning on the factory alarm on) and then attempting to remote start.  It wont start and sets off the factory alarm.  If I unlock the doors it will start right up.  I want to find the factory box and disable it.  I have seen on Ebay what it is supposed to look like and read that it is in the passenger side of the trunk (NO thats where my convertable top motor is) and then under the rear seat.  No again.

Any help?????  I am beating myself to death here.  I would be willing to pay for this information now as much aggravation as it has caused

I think you will find it IS in the trunk, the alternative (VW Passat) is driver's floor (assuming l/h/ drive) in front of seat.

Do the following, the black control box will have two plugs. Coax type leads, common + 2,, cut. Indicators BLACK/ green, BLACK/ white, cut. Remove siren at engine bay, or find siren feed wire and cut.

Another option, which would be more secure (you'll have two alarms instead of one) and less work (no need to chase down the factory alarm) would be to do this:

1. Connect the Viper's "factory disarm" output (I think it's light GREEN/ black?) to the car's unlock wire.

2. Connect the Viper's "factory re-arm" output to the car's lock wire.

You could just go right to the Viper's brain, plug in the harnesses for the arm/disarm wires, and splice them onto the Viper's green and blue lock/unlock wires............no need to take the car's door apart again.

Then, the car will unlock, remote start, and lock again.

So if I understand this, the Viper box - when the remote start is pressed - will send a ground to the "factory disarm" start the car and then a throw a ground back to the "factory arm" again.  So I would not have to do it manually?

than that would help big time.

Yes that is how it would work, I found on my A4 however the alarm would still occasionally go off even after doing this as it seems the factory alarm had some sort of rudimentary shock sensor which I could never get to go off with any regularity. I ended up going to the factory alarm brain (which is in the trunk; passenger side under the carpet, deep down in the side "well") and I believe cutting the blue wire which stops the alarm from arming all together. It has been awhile since I have done it though so double check that wire.
