Hello,

I'm about to install a Code Alarm CA 680 into my 06 Ford Explorer. I've been reading about the need for diodes to be installed on the door lock/unlock outputs.

This unit has negative outputs for the lock/unlock wire, which I've read to be a direct connect. But i've been doing some reading on this site that says you need to install diodes on the lock/unlock outputs to allow the security module to go to sleep, otherwise I'll get a battery drain problem. I had this unit installed on my 05 F150 and always saw that the battery was draining after sitting for a couple weeks and could never figure out why.

Can someone please elaborate on what i need do do? i.e. what diodes do i need to buy, and how do I install them? is it simply inline between the alarm and the vehicle wiring?

Thanks!

You can trigger YELLOW /GREEN, AND PURPLE / green, in the drivers kick (isolating with diodes) this will arm and lock factory security.

unlock is PURPLE / gray in the drivers running board... negative trigger. you should not have a BCM problem....

The BCM goes to sleep NOT the alarm, you need to look at DEI 1076 diagramme, it's here somewhere, problems on the previous vehicle were not alarm related, a correctly wired alarm well add about 30mamps draw to the battery.
