Hi there... I've prepped my alarm (A viper 5900) and am just about ready to install it (tomorrow maybe). I got to thinking I have extra channels so I'd really like to set up a relay to be able to turn my headlights on (and preferably off) by using one of the available channels on my remote. I tried searching for this and didn't find an exact match. I'd really appreciate it if anyone that knows how could let me know or point me to a link for doing what I want. Thank you!

Does the 5900 have a latched output, or is it just a pulse?   If I had to guess, I would think it has only a pulsed output.  If this is the case you can use the following diagram.

Latched On/Off Output Using a Single Momentary Pulse
Similar to the momentary to constant configuration above, we can engage and disengage the latched output with a single pulse from a switch or an output from an alarm or remote keyless entry. The first pulse from the switch will engage the latch. The next pulse from the switch will disengage the latch.

Thanks iam... WOW 4 relays... I was hoping I could make use of the one extra I have. That's pretty complicated and I'm gonna study it later.

Actually though, I checked and the Viper does have latched outputs--on/off, on/off in 30sec., or on/off with ignition--for channels 4, 5, and 6. So, does that mean I can simply tap into the correct wire to trigger the factory relay(s)?

Oh, I also realized there is a defogger key combination that sends a latched output. So, I imagine I could use that since I haven't set it up to work the defogger

What you can do is use your domelight output and connect it to the headlight.  It will turn on the lights with the car off and unlock the door with the remote  then shut off after you arm the car.  It will also shut off after 30 secs.

Enice: Cool thanks, I hadn't even considered that. But, I'm really looking for just having the option to turn on my lights when I want, like if I want to light the way to car, etc. I don't really want it to always occur. Plus, I figure I have open channels on my alarm so I might as well use one :)
