I really like the remote on their AS-2450vTW-FM remote starter. I haven't decided if I'm going to install myself or have a shop do it. A local shop is listed on the Autostart.ca site as being a dealer, so I gave them a call. They said Autostart went out of business!

Is this true? The website is up and fully functional. He did say they were bought by DEI, but that they weren't shipping any units.

So if I can't get the AS-2450vTW-FM, can someone recommend something similar? I haven't found another 2-way thats as small. There is ONE unit on Ebay, but if they went out of business, maybe this isn't a good one to purchase?

Believe that unit was recalled....possible reason for not shipping.

Yes they were sold to DEi couple of years ago, Haven't heard they were closed, just got product last week.

I saw there was a recall, but what I was reading said they were just replacing the units. But maybe thats depleting their stock.

I've also come across the Ultra Start 3280-XR, which looks like it has a pretty small remote. Unlike the Autostart it doesn't have an LCD, but it is 2-way. From what I've read on here Ultrastart is an ok brand. I still like the remote on the Autostart a lot better though.

there was a recall on the module due to a software error.  Other than that they are still up and running as I too have just got more stock in the last week.  Great unit from my opion.

Agreed. I was just at my installer this week and he says he should have his stock next week. As mentioned above, the recall is for a software issue and the new software will be version 3.0. I'm sure they will just re-flash all the returned units (aprrox. 21,000 units) with the new software. Also, this recall affects the following brands in Canada and the USA:

AutoStart, Polar Start, Extreme, Orbit, Nordic Start and Command Start.

I will be getting this unit installed in my '08 F150 and currently have the model AS-1755 installed in my wife's Explorer. I have had good luck with this brand (AutoStart & Command Start) as well as with AstroStart dating back to 1995.
