okay, i have an old viper 300 alarm that I pulled out of an older car.  There is no remote for the alarm, but i was wondering if there was a way (maybe by opening the "brain" and shorting wires?) to arn/disarm the system without using the remote?   if i can, i'd like to integrate the alarm to my factory remote (using a relay and tapping an appropriate circuit perhaps) so that it arms and disarms accordingly when I use my factory keyfob.

also, i have another alarm at hand with the remote... maybe i could crack open one of the remotes, solder the contacts for the buttons and followup from there?  but before I get ahead of myself, i'd prefer to go the first route (if possible)

ideas and suggestions would be a great help.  thanks in advance

I would say buy a remote from Ebay and use it to integrate with your OEM remote.  I think getting the system to disarm by shorting pins inside the unit would be a major security flaw.  Most likely the reciever has a serial bus with the processor and sends a specific unlock code to the processor to disarm it.

However, the only way to know for sure would be to tear it apart and try to trace the output from the reciever to the processor.
