Hey, I'm sure you are all tired of this question but I did some research and couldn't find the answers I was looking for.

My question is my buddy wants me to try to install a push button start in his 92 Lincoln Continental. It's a beater car so if it doesn't work out thats fine but its a fun project I wanna try.

He wants to be able to start the car without using the key at all (if possible). I would like to make it so you have to push in the brake so it cant be accidentally started and I am also unsure of how to turn off the car when done driving.

Thanks in advance for any advice

You will have to disable the steering lock.  All of the wires you need are listed below, you will have to use relays to power these wires.  There will need to be at least one toggle switch and a pushbutton for the starter.  Let me know if you want to use only one toggle switch for Acc and Ignition.

Thanks for responding. Yes I would like to use just one toggle switch for the Acc and Ignition. The less the better.

This is a picture of the back of the toggle switch.  It needs to be Single Pole Double Throw,  On-Off-On switch.

This is a picture showing how it needs to be connected.  The Black cylindrical looking thing is a diode.  1n4001 available at Radio Shack.   The silver band on the diode needs to be connected exactly how it looks in the picture.

Ground terminal 85 of both relays.  Power from the Battery wire (Yellow) also needs to go to terminal 30 on both relays.  Terminal 87 of the accessory relay needs to be connected to the  Grey / YELLOW wire of the vehicle.

Even I am confused by the info I posted.  It is calling the second Ignition wire a second accessory wire.

Try connecting terminal 87 of the ignition relay to both the RED / Light Green   and the BLACK/ Green

The RED / LightBlue is the starter wire, it should be connected to the pushbutton switch.   It must be a momentary pushbutton switch with normally open contacts.

It is an On-Off-On toggle switch. In the middle position, it is off. Flip the lever down and it is in the accessory position. Flip the lever up and it is in the Ignition position. When it is in the ignition position, the diode will also power the accessory terminal of the switch.
