I installed an 872p in a 2.5 RS but the only thing I can't get to work is the remote start. I made sure to check the programming guide to verify it's in manual mode. I have the door trigger, brake and e-brake all hooked up but I'm pretty sure the problem is the e-brake. When the car is off the wire tests as a ground both when the e-brake is on and when it is off. When the car is on, it tests as positive when the e-brake is off and ground when the e-brake is on.

The install manual states that the wire should be negative "at rest" which I assume means off. So I think my solution will be to use a relay to reverse polarity but I just wanted to check here first. The possible problem I can foresee is that the unit will always assume the e-brake is on when the car is off, now for that to become and issue, someone would have to purposely put the car in gear after the shutdown sequence has been completed.

I have tried manually grounding the e-brake wire and doing the sequence but still got nothing.

I've double checked almost everything and tried a bunch of other things as well:

Tried putting the hoodpin switch as normally open and normally closed as I haven't hooked one up.

Double checked the 2-pin neutral safety switch, my brake wire pretty much everything. When I try to remote start the car the parking lights blink 7 times indicating that the remote start is activated but I did not perform the shutdown sequence.

Any ideas?

Also neg at rest means when ebrake is on the switch should go to ground. Some Peugeot switches would only do this when ignition was on but by then it doesn't matter. Check at brake switch or warning light. If it stil does it, diode on cable with bar towards switch and join between switch and diode. By the way is "ebrake" what I would call a "handbrake"?

Hey this is Josh, the owner of the car. Redford and I managed to get the system to activate (apparently with this model python the tach wire must be connected).

The problem we're encountering now is that the car has a dome light delay switch associated with it. When using the factory alarm that came with the car, the dome light would automatically shut off when the system was armed.

Now, since the factory alarm is not in use, the dome light remains on for about 90 seconds after arming the python system. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but the python system monitors the door pins which share connections with the dome light so the python system is still reading at least one of the doors as "open" when the system is armed after activating the remote start. Therefore it deactivates the remote start because it interprets the system as not secure.

The python technician explained I would need to use a relay to isolate the dome light from the door pins, but I have no idea how to do this. Has anyone encountered this problem on similar systems? Ideally, I'd like to have this alarm mimic the factory one by shutting off the dome light when armed.

You need to read the owners manual. there is a very specific procedure for making it work in manual mode.

1. with car running push brake pedal once.

2.  push remote start button with in 15 seconds of pushing brake pedal.

3. turn off ignition (car should stay running).

4. Exit car and arm system (car should turn off).

5. now remote start button should work.

You've wired the door contacts wrong, what's a 2.5RS ?
