Hi there
First of all I appreciate the forum which helped me in my installation. I installed the Prostart CT-3400 in my 99-Grand Am. The programming was a pain but I was able to do the important parts so far.
Now I have two issues, the engine starts from remote but shuts in 2-3 seconds - I did the auto tach programming but it did not help.
Then the horn is not working when i programmed for the horn honk timing procedure, also it is not working when i press the lock/unlock button for the second time. ( I did the programming so that the car should honk when pressing the lock/unlock button the second time ). I believe the wiring are right.( I connected the black wire on the signal light switch to one of my axiliary output lines)
Please give me suggestions, Thank you.
NAPA.

What bypass did you use for the car? Try putting the key in the ignition and press the r/s button and see if it starts. If so, then you have a problem with your bypass. Use a DMM to verify that you have a ground signal when pressing the horn button. I am a little confused on the wiring you have for the horn honk. I do not believe that the wire is located on the signal light switch, and usually there is a separate horn wire to connect it to on the starter, not an auxilary.

Thanks Kenny:
About bypass: I used a transponder to bypass, it has a resistance loop around the key area and i have put a duplicate key in the transponder and connected the ground out wire to it.
About horn honk: I used the aux 1 output from the remote starter module to activate the horn as it was how i understood. I got the wiring information from https://64.85.6.118/diagrams/diagrams.asp
If i am wrong please correct me. Thank you for your help.

The Grand Am has Passlock, not a transponder system. The key in the box isn't doing any good; you're describing precisely what the Passlock system will do when it's not sensing proper use of the key cylinder.

You need to get a bypass which is designed for Passlock and install that.

Thanks Chris, I will work on it. DO you have any suggestions for the horn wiring?

Can someone give me an easier Passlock 2 details if you have done it before.
Thanks.

For the horn wiring: I agree with Kenny that your remote start should have a dedicated horn output and using an auxiliary channel would not be necessary.

Also, the horn wire is probably in the steering wheel clock spring, and you absolutely positively should NEVER connect to any of the wires there on any car without metering(and don't meter with anything other than a DMM, that means no test lights, computer safe test lights, or analog voltmeters). The airbag wires are in the same harness, and the bag will deploy with next to no current applied to them.

For Passlock II...go to Bypasskit and search for your car. There are many options that will work, but I'd personally use a data override.

Thanks all. I was able to install the bypass module and the starter works! :-) I decided to leave the horn connection as i was not succesful in finding the correct wire. Again thanks all for your help.
