I have a 2000 Eclipse with a AstroStart remote starter. When my wife bought the car from the owner, everything worked fine. Just recently the remote starter doesn't work anymore. I looked up the manual and read through it and I got fail code 5. I found the hood pin and replaced it with a new one cause the old one was damaged and I'm still getting the same code. I located the brain and the model was 2006A. Thank you in advance for anyone who helps.

The 2006 used a magnetic style hood pin switch (lame) I'm bettin you replaced it with a standard grounding hood pin, right?

Get yourself a 10 thousand ohm resistor and tag on to the hood trigger wire, and take it to ground near the new pin switch. This should fix your problem.

Yes, I replaced it with a standard grounding hood pin. When you say "tag" does that mean to add another wire with the resistor and ground it. Just want to make sure so I can try it tomorrow.

Thanks KarTuneMan for the help, everything woks great now. At first it wasn't working cause when i went to radioshack for the resistor, they gave me the wrong one and I had to go back to get the correct one. Once I got the right one it still didn't work, until I decided to change the ground to a different location and now everything works. Thanks again
