I have this in my 04 Sonata, it says it has 4 aux outputs, I am wondering how (or if) I can wire a power wire to one of these, the power wire will feed my headrest monitors and the dvd player, so that when the alarm is set the power will be cut (this will help instances where the kids leave it on) and when the alarm is not set, the power will flow (probably to a master switch and then to the units) this will give ma a backup shut off in case the human mind fails, and NO I do not want to have the key on to run this stuff. any input would be great.

use the "ground when armed" output. Main harness, Orange wire. 85: +12v 86: Orange "ground when armed" 30: ouput to Monitors 87a: input power for monitors

wouldn't 85 and 87a be the same? at least that is how I read your post and 30 would be output "ground" to monitors? relays really confuse me, wouldn't this set up turn the power on when armed? your speaking to a relay challenged person

87a is the "normally CLOSED" output, i.e. it's connected to 30 whenever the relay is inactive. When your ground-when-armed is active, that connection is interrupted.
Incidentally g-w-a isn't a good idea because it will drain the battery(the relay coil will draw current all the time while the alarm is armed). Better to use one of those auxiliary outputs, and program it to be active for 5 or 10 seconds(the monitors may not shut down for a momentary interruption of their power).

85: +12v (12 POSITIVE VOLTS ON ALL THE TIME?) 86: (AUX OUT FROM ALARM-SHOULD BE 12 VOLTS WHEN DISARMED?) 30: ouput to Monitors (CONNECT THIS TO THE RED (+) TO THE MONITORS) 87a: IS THIS THE SAME AS 85? 12 POSITIVE VOLTS ON ALL THE TIME?)

Was just going to mention that the Monitors should have been wired through the accessory circuit in the first place removing this problem, then I was going to mention that firing up a relay through aux or armed out aux is bad practice because you will realise this when you don't use your car in the winter for one day and you find you have a flat battery when I notice CW got in there first as usual. Don' t you ever sleep? You're as bad as Kar Tune Man and he's 8 hours behind me but never sleeps.

Yes 85 and 87a will be +12v constant. The problem with using an auxillary out from your alarm, is the same scenario as the "ground when armed" scenario. The relay will be energized while the car sits with the alarm system armed. You could program the auxillary to pulse for 5 to 10 seconds, but then after that, the screens get power back and they fire up like you turned the key on. I don't see a problem with using the "ground when armed" Orange, because it would be the same thing as a starter kill relay. Yes you'll have some current flow, but only if you left the vehicle armed for an extended period of time, more than a day, will you have battery drain problems.

That is perfect for the pulse thing Megaman, as when they are given power they still need to be turned "on" with the button on the monitor, but when power is disconnected, of course the shut off and reset, same with the DVD player, so I am set. I could even run the monitors off the amp wire from the dvd and just run the dvd from the relay. Thanx for your help, now will you install it for free for me?
