i was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a 92 olds 88 royale with a Hornet 553t alarm. I want to add the horn so that it will honk when the alarm is triggered. do i need a relay to do this, or can i just run the wiring from the brain straight to the horn wire under the steering column.

No prob. You're not pushing it
For the trunk pop, do you have a lever, or a pushbutton in your car, to open the trunk? If you have a pushbutton, then I believe you only need to add a relay between one of the extra channels of your alarm, and the wires going to your car's pushbutton. If you have a lever (manual), then you can buy a trunk release kit for like $15, add a relay, and then you have to use that extra channel from the alarm. That's the basics on how to do it. If you want more info on the wiring and such, just reply....
Here's a previous post about this topic. You might want to check out the links on that post.

Once again thanks. i just bought a trunk release kit because i had to use the key to open my trunk. so if you could can you break down to me how i would wire evrything together. and have you heard of a mercury switch for the trunk? is it the same thing as a pin switch?

well, here's how I did my trunk release. Because the formatting in my post is coming out a little funkie, I'll number my steps to make it easier to read. (1) Installed the trunk solenoid in the trunk. (2) The solenoid has 2 wires. The one wire (probably black) goes to ground in the trunk. The other wire (mine was green) gets dragged all the way up to the front of the car where the alarm is, and gets hooked up to a relay. (3) Here's the diagram for hooking up the relay to the trunk release and you're alarm:
bulldog security trunk solenoid diagram (4) Then that relay gets hooked up to the negative output of your alarm. (5) you can also install the optional switch (pushbutton) that probably came with your kit, too. REfer to that diagram for that, too.

use this diagrams to do what you need, but remember you didn,t mention the make of the car so you might need a different set up for the trunk realease. But it should wor. This diagrams are for your alarm a 553t. follow links https://www.directechs.com/directfax/pdfs/1050.pdf this is for the horn honk

Are you talking about the vehicles horn or the alarm's siren? If you want the horn to honk whenever the alarm is arming/disarming and sounding then you would need two relays. First relay would be: 85 siren output from alarm(you can still leave your siren hooked up), 86 ground, 30 ground, 87 output to 30 of second relay. Second relay: 85 parking light from alarm, 86 ground, 30 output from 87 of first relay, 87 to negative trigger for horn. This will honk whenever the siren is on, when the lights flash. If all you want is the horn then you would just use a relay on the siren output(converting it to negative) and use the output to trigger the horn, and you would have to program the the siren output to be chopped.

The RED / white wire in the main harness is usually use for trunk release. Its negative output. If you need a positive output, you will need a relay.
