hey members,
1st post here.thanks in adv. for your responses. and sorry admin. if this topic was posted- did a search and came up with no other similar type topics.
anyway, i'm hooking up a viper 791xv to a 2000 honda accord, and i want to hook up a toggle switch to set the alarm up into a "silent alarm mode"- ... NO (as in none) 1st stage alarm(warnaway), no full alarm. as a matter of fact, not even light flash. i also outfitted the alarm with a voice module, and along with the previous disabled items, NO voice output.
i'm looking to do this in a basically safe (fenced in) location where i suspect someone of keyying my vehicle. so i want to catch him in the act. the alarm is a 2 way so i would still get an alarm on the keypad transmitter.
here is the system in full- viper 791xv (alarm/remote start), 516u (voice), 530t (windows), 556h (key bypass), 508d (motion sensor), 2 video cameras (reverse gear/backup type cameras)- which i may tie into a vcr. the cameras have a light sensor/ nighttime illumination which i can just set up in an aux. channel and use basically as a dummy camera.
here is my question: is it safe to send a siren output(+) thru an automotive relay. sorry if its a dumb question. i'm really not sure, but i don't want to screw up fatally an alarm i spent countless hours installing and still installing.
this would be my switch/relay setup #85- to switch (3a 125v?- typical alarm toggle switch) to ground; #86- 12v+ constant fused (5,10,or 15a fuse probably 15a just cause they're popular); #87- siren input(+) from alarm siren output); #30 siren output(+) to viper voice siren input(+) and the regular siren input(+)
thanks again, notdavidgilmour
You'll need a seperate relay for each output you want to turn off on the alarm. One for the siren, one for the parking light flash, and more for any other features you want to turn off.
You could have saved yourself a ton of grief with the new Responder LE models. They are already programmed to do exactly what you are attempting to accomplish. They have Silent Trigger mode which only alerts the two way remote when the alarm is warned away or triggered.
