99 chevy venture factory power locks

I have a 1999 Chev Venture.

Power locks work perfect with the factory GM keyfob, but don't work from either switch inside. The power windows work on both sides. I swapped in 2 known working switches and the same result. No sound.

Previous owner must have removed some device as I had to clean up a few extra wires on the passenger side that didn't connect to anything that were tapped into factory wires - and I made sure the wires that need to be connected were done. I'm thinking an alarm or remote starter maybe as it has the hood pin for the remote starter.

Where are the relays for the power locks in this vehicle? I'm in a time crunch to fix this before I have to bring it back for follow up inspection. I checked the wires in the door jam etc and everything looks fine. Fuses are good.

The factory lock and unlock wires should be light blue, and white.

You could go back and look at the area where you cleaned up the old wires. See if you can find the blue and white wires. Test them to see if they make a ground when you hit the lock and unlock buttons on the doors.

Also, I think there's a small fuse that feeds the coils for the relays. That is, there's a large fuse (maybe 10 or 15 amps) for the power door locks, but then a smaller (5 or even 2 amps) that feeds just the trigger part of the relays.

Do all of your cigarette lighter(s) work?

I would go through all of the fuse box(es) and test all the fuses, with a meter or test light.

The relays for the door locks are inside the BCM. If the locks work from the remotes, but not from the switches, then there is either a problem with the lock switches or the wiring for them. These vans are known for having a water leak problem that causes corrosion in the wiring under the carpet at the passenger front door. Pry up the sill plate and open the plastic channel which contains the wire harness. Check the wires for corrosion, paying close attention to the light blue and white wires. The two door switches splice the lock and unlock wires in this area together before going to the BCM. The BCM is above the passenger kick panel.

You also should check your fuses...I had an experience with an Astro doing the same thing you're describing, and for whatever reason the power lock switches got their constant power from a different fuse than the BCM, as well as being separate from the doorlock relay.

Fellas, thanks a bunch for all your help. I tried a couple of things, the fuses were all good as stated earlier but anyways - one hour in the hands of someone who does this for a living and it's fixed. There is something messed up from what the previous owner did but he was able to rewire it and get it working. (from the driver switch panel)
