I had a viper 550 installed in my 2002 chrysler pt cruiser.  I also had an optional pager installed on that alarm.  Last weekend I had a Clifford Matrix RS 3 installed at Best Buy and all they did was replace the brain and the antanea but the remote will not recieve any pages and the alarm still pages to my old pager not my new clifford remote/pager.  PLEASE HELP!!!

LOL, that's hilarious! How much did you pay to have them do that?

Take it back and have them fix it and then remember where that happened.

It is fine that the optional pager is responding because that is still installed, but your Clifford should work. I am not sure how they let your vehicle leave there without it working, but it doesnt surprise me.

Do you think it is a problem with the install or a problem with the unit?  Would replacing the wiring make a difference?  Do you think the brain is bad or could it be a problem with the remote?  The alarm will arm and remote start and it will also go off if it is messed with.

Probably a bad remote....or maybe a bad antenna. The Responder systems are nowhere near as reliable as other DEI products.

What do you mean by not as reliable?

I also do not see the antenna, and I did see the antenna when I had my Viper 550

DEI makes the responder also. From what you said seems like you have a wiring problem. The old 550 wire harness may not match up to the responder ports. I have the responder on my car. NO problem at all.

Same wiring harness as the 550.

You should see the antenna. Its huge. Usually goes behind mirror. If you don't see it, go back and ask them to put it behind the mirror like they are supposed to or else your range will be effected greatly. Might be why you aren't getting pages. Have them test it this time.

I meant less reliable in that bad remotes and bad antennas aren't very uncommon. I've probably seen maybe 2 out of 10 remotes comes back as defective. One wouldn't page back properly, another one had the plastic antenna pop off (a known problem).

I went back to Best Buy and had a new brain put in with a new remote/pager, and it works fine now.  They said that they couldn't put my antenna on my windshield because I have a t.v. antenna on it for my indash dvd player and there was no room, so I am going back thursday and they are going to mount it in the ceiling near my sunroof controls.  I asked about moving the t.v. antenna but they said if they pulled it off then it wouldn't re-stick good and would probably fall off.

How does this sound?

Are these guys for real ?? Have they ever heard of 3M double sided tape ? You can relocate the TV antenna but it's probably too much work for them to do that, that's why they told you that " ...............if they pulled it off then it wouldn't re-stick good and would probably fall off"

What about the alarm antenna being mounted in the ceiling near my sunroof controls?  Should this affect the remote/pager range?  If so, how much?

I could be wrong here. But when I replaced my RS2 with a RS3 the antenna cord had one addl wire...hence no transmit. They probably overlooked this and when you came back they lied and said it was the brain but eventually replaced everything that they needed to.

3M double stick sucks for antennas...nothing compares to the original.
