how to program prestige fob

I'm currently installing aps225a in my friends 97 acura rl, but can't get the brain to accept the fob that came with it. Id figured they would have come programed from factory, but apparently they didn't.

The fob's are aps99bt3. Does anyone know what could I be doing wrong? I have just about every wire connected except the door trigger, and door locks. I can't proceed with doorlocks unless I can program the fob's first. I've done a couple of installs in the past but had never ran into having to program the fob's.

The manual says to turn ignition on and press valet 3 times, hear one chirp and press lock button, press valet again hear two chirps then press and hold unlock and so on and so forth. Any Ideas why it wouldn't work?

normally to enter into programing you need to have the door trigger hooked up. The alarm brain needs to see that the door is open. Also with prestige systems you have to be kinda slow when pushing the valet/programing switch(like ign on press button wait press again wait press again wait for some reason it doesnt have a very fast reaction time).   So just be patient and dont get discouraged.

I was able to get the brain to go into Program Mode because I am getting the confirmation chirp after the 3 consecutive pushes. Then I press again and get the two chirp confirmation to program channel 2 and so on. The problem is that when I press and hold the lock, the brain doesn't recognize it and after 15 seconds, it automatically terminates the programing session.

I think the transmitters are not compatible with that model. According to the picture on the box, these transmitters are very different. I went through the programing manual and noticed the manual has a different part number for the FOB. They list "07s3bt". I did a search on the web and that one is identical to the one pictured on the box. I'm thinking I got the wrong transmitters.

I ran a search for replacement FOB's and came back that aps993bt is a replacement for the aps157 and aps255, however, I have aps255A which It didn't list as being compatible. I contacted the fleabay vendor, but have yet to receive a response.

You don't need the door trigger hooked up to enter programming on Audiovox.

Sounds like you're doing everything right to get into programming too.

This is just an alarm, not a remote start, right? Is it a glass mount antenna, or just a piece of wire?

If it's just a wire antenna, you're all set. If it's a glass mount antenna, it has to be plugged into the brain before you can do anything with the remotes.

On the back of the remotes should be the number 800 225 6074. I'd call Audiovox with the alarm brain in sight, and the remotes in hand, and they should be able to tell you if you have the right remotes.
