I have a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am. I installed a code alarm srt9000 alarm and remote start. I'm using a directic 556lw as a ing bypass. When I first installed the bypass the engine would start when hot but when cold it would not. Since it was starting I started to install the radio, intrument panel and trim and secure the wiring.
Now when I try starting with the remote the dash will lights and the blower will run but the engine will not crank over. I tested the wiring and every thing is correct. I got another another 556lw and replaced the first one but it still won't crank over. I also tried the srt9000 that bought for my daugter car And it does the same thing.

Usual procedure, first try it leaving the key in the ign off position. If this works the fault is in the by-pass. If this fails try the obvious things first....is hood switch OK, safety cut-outs working, is a ground feed going from the alarm R/S to the by-pass, double check all the wiring etc etc.
My normal procedure is to double check every component such as switch contacts as soon as they are installed. To check a by-pass, wire it up, ground the input wire then try and hot-wire the car to start having removed the ignition key some time previously. My own suspicion from your comments is the starter wire (or wires), even without a key or by-pass, it will crank over but not fire up.
Howie, this is a fun GM vehicle with the Passlock immobilizer you guys didn't get, key in the ign. doesn't make a difference on it.
Caddyroger, check 2 things. First, that the bypass is wired and programmed correctly. It won't work without programming. Second, the ignition wires must be powered correctly. Pink and Green have to stay at 12V during crank, Orange and Brown have to drop power. The BCM sometimes gets confused otherwise and won't allow cranking.

My service is cheap, quick, and good - pick any two
it sounds like the ignition isnt getting powered up. double check and make sure both ignitions and your acc wires are getting power at the right time.
