Good Morning Guys,
First of all, what a great site. I have learned alot about the 12V system here, thanks.
I have a Viper 791 alarm in a 1959 Cadillac. Just about finished with the install. Last night when I hooked up the 530T and tried it, I got both windows to only move about 1 inch at a time. (By hitting the window switch not the arming the alarm). When I looked at the troubleshooting section of the installation guide, it says to make sure that I am wired before the one touch switch on my window, but that car does not have that. Then it says that maybe it is too efficient or not efficient enough. I tried helping the window up or down while hitting the button, but still it only goes about an inch and stops. I can hear the 530T clicking inside it as it stops the motor on the window. Anyone have this happen before?

So I have read through about everything there is to read on this site about the 530T, and I went back and rechecked all my wiring. I wonder if there is any chance that the resistance from such a heavy window is causing the box to click off. Did I understand that is what tells the box to stop going up or down is restistance? Thanks in advance for all your help.

OK, here is what I have come up with so far. I just disconnected the MOTOR side wires on the unit(530T), and even then all it does is the really quick bursts, as if it is venting. I put my meter in there and the most I can read is about 7 volts, but I would bet it is just a quick burst of 12 volt that my meter is no fast enough to read. By the way, I did the Heavy Windows Mod that I found on this site before I tried disconnecting the MOTOR side wires, and did the exact same thing. So this leads me to beleive that the unit is bad, if anyone has any info let me know, but for now I guess a new unit if in order. I will keep you posted.

Check that your connections are good also check the ground on the 530t they are very sensitive to grounds.  You said you did the mod...so you removed the right resistors and set the dip switch settings to the highest??  It also could be voltage does the car battery read 12v at rest also did you change the battery cables and check to make sure they are tight and free of any corrosion

If you disconnect the wires from the motors and trigger the unit, you cant TEST the unit that way.  The module will detect no load and shut right off.  What gauge wiring did you use to provide the module with power?   I would recommend 10Ga power and ground, right to the battery.  That module will work perfectly for you, if you provide the power it needs to roll those big windows up.  Set the DIP switchs to the default position, and start there (along with the gauge power and ground).  I've put MANY of these in, without any problems.

OK. I ran 10Ga ground and Posotive directly to the battery with a 2 amp battery charger on it, and I was reading 12.8 volts right at the module. I was getting exactly the same result before and after the MOD. I will try the default settings, but I cant imagine that it does not have enough resistance to get the motor to turn after the MOD while set at the highest setting? Let me know if you guys have any ideas.

How did you make out?  Setting the swicthes at the highest setting does not mean it's going to work harder to roll the windows up!  Try it at the fact/default setting first.

They are only going down an inch or so at a time because of the resistance. Try to change the settings on the 530T also there is a directfax document that talks about this issue. If you can't find the directfax let me know and I will email it to you

I played with the jumper settings already and they are currently all down (which is the strongest setting) with no avail. Ill search for that document after work but if you have it readily available and dont mind posting it that would be great!

Here is my whole problem just an FYI

I hooked mine all up and it didnt work propery. So I went and started over and looking for help on the 12 volt site. Right now I currently have all the grounds hooked up to a bolt under the dash, 12v wire straight to the battery (for testing purposes), I have the driver side up motor and switch hooked to the WHITE/ black wire on the car (according to this site these 2 wires are what I need to hook into) that I cut and hooked them up how they should (switch side motor side etc)

When I take the orange wire and manually ground it out it will move the window about an inch then stop. I tried putting the dip switches in the down position (strongest setting) and it didnt matter. It seems like the 530t unit itself keeps shutting it down right away.

any help ou can supply would be much appreciated.

What size wire do you have run to the battery?  I would reccomend 10 Ga, 8Ga preferably.  Switchs set to default/factory/nornmal setting.  Not the highest setting.
