Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question, not sure where it should go.  I recently installed a remote start (compustar) with a can-sl2 in a 2007 infiniti g35x sedan.  Seemed to be working okay, until today when I noticed that my auto-up function on my windows isn't working.  Did some research and from what I've read (based on the operations that are and are not working) my windows have gone into fail-safe mode.  It says to perform initial operation to recover when switched to fail-safe mode.  Now maybe I'm just being dense, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that could be.  I tried the obvious of rolling the windows all the way up and down.  Perhaps it's some kind of initialization sequence I can't find?  It does say that it will switch back to fail-safe mode when a malfunction is detected, and maybe that's the case, but I'm not sure.  I can't see how I caused this problem in the first place installing the remote start.  Unless somehow I tapped an incorrect wire in the BCM or the IPDM, but then why is the car starter working if I did that?  The only thing I haven't tried was to dissconnect the battery and drain the system.  Is this what I should do?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

The window system on those cars are very finicky.

Did you lose the one touch on all windows or just the one?  It sounds like all windows.

Did you follow the window programming instructions to the T?  It's pretty straight forward, but you will have to do it for all four windows (if you have anti pinch rear windows).

Basically, lower the window you want to program.  Then, raise it all the way up and hold the "UP" button for 5 seconds after the window closes.  Then open the window completely, again holding the "DOWN" button for 5 seconds after the window is all the way open.  Do this sequence three times.

Like I said, you have to do it for each window.  I've had these window systems reset from disconnecting the battery for 20 mintues - it doesn't take much for them to do this.

Thanks.  I'll give that a try.  It is all windows, but I didn't know about the 5 second thing, and I only tried the one window up and down.  I'll try all of them.

Just tried it and they are all working again.  Thanky-ou very, very much.  I might never have figured that out.  They must have gone into fail-safe when I disconnected the BCM connections to tap the wires there.  Thanks again.  I really appreciate the quick response and accuracy of the info.

The sequence is detailed in the owners manual!  Good to hear that fixed it.
