2008 Honda Civic Si.  Compustar Pro P2WSSR alarm/remote start.  Car is manual, and has the factory keyless entry/anti-theft thing.

I had the alarm installed.  Everything works.  I find this alarm weird.  Would like some knowledge/help on it.  If I remote start the car, the car will unlock the door, start, then lock the doors back up.  This to me seems like a security breach.  I was told this is because the Compustar alarm has to unlock the doors to keep the factory keyless entry happy, then start the car, and after starting, will re-lock it.  Is this normal?  I tried to play theif, and remote started the car, and opened the door when the alarm unlocked it before starting it.  It takes a good 10 seconds before the alarm starts going off and car to stall out with the door opened.  10 seconds is probably enough time to swipe everything sitting inside my car.  Is this just how it is, or is there a way to get around this?  The installer says the factory keyless entry/anti-theft thing HAS to be left in, otherwise the whole power door lock system will not function.

Next problem.  When the car is remote starting, it seems to keep cranking for a full second or so after the car is started.  Is there a setting to make it not do this?  I understand that the alarm only knows th car is running throuh the tach signal.  I know this car is just about electronic everything, so maybe it's not giving correct tach signal upon start?  It's just something I noticed.  Not a super big deal.

Last but not least, if I pop the trunk with the Compustar remote (holding down button 3 for 2.5 seconds),it will unlock all doors then pop the trunk.  Is this normal?  I really don't need the doors unlocked when I pop the trunk.

Thanks in advance for the help.  Th Viper alarms w/RS I'm used to just didn't have issues like this.

Well from my understanding is that, the civics factory security is the same wire as the lock and unlock wires. So in order to remote start the car without the factory alarm alerting. You will need to unlock the car (disarm) and then relock it after starting. This is a common procedure with any alarm remote start in the market. They might be a way to disarm the alarm without unlocking the doors first but i never done this car yet. So therefore i would have to do some research.

The over crank can be adjusted by your dealer. Have them call Firstech (compustars) tech support and they can help your dealer with the tach issue. The viper you had previously was on the same car? Its your car not the unit.

The Viper I had were on different cars.  Last one was an '05 Subaru WRX STi.  That car too had a factory anti theft system, which I believe still worked (which I never used) after the Viper was installed.  That car never unlocked the doors before remote starting.

I will tell my installer to call Firstech about the over crank issue.

Do you know if it's possible to bypass the factory alarm on the Civic all together, and have everything else still work?  Just doesn't make sense to me to have the doors UNLOCK before remote starting.

I can deal with the over cranking, because it's really not much.  I am thinking maybe it's the cold start feature on or something.  I will read through my manual some more later.

As for the brown wire in the driver's kick panel, I do see that it's for factory disarm.  I will talk to my Compustar installer to see what they say.

Any Compustar installers here do an '06+ Civic?  I would like to know if attaching to the brown wire is the way to go (for remote start to not unlock doors when remote starting).

Thanks.

1. Like mentioned before it unlocks the doors to turn the factory alarm off. Once started it relocks them.

2. You can take away timing from the starter wire. Take it back as you will need the OP500.

3.Same as #2 can be changed through the OP500 to just unlock the trunk.

As far as the brown wire all depends on which bypass they used? I use Idatalink and I know on some Hondas if you use the disarm wire in line with Data to do doors and trunk it freezes the MICU.

The tach signal on the new Civic's are out of range of the Compustar's threshold and you need to use the alternator wire instead of the injector or coil. If you are using one of the new 5000 series CPU you can program in the threshold to accommodate the lower threshold signal, but if it's a CM4000 CPU you will need to use the alternator stator wire instead. This will get rid of the over cranking and also when it gets cold out it will also fix the failed start problem.

The trunk/unlock can be programmed out and the OEM alarm disarm wire on new Civics are found in the loom beside the door lock wires coming from the DKP. Hook the OEM alarm disarm wire to the ORANGE / WHITE wire on the CN2 harness on the Compustar unit.

I am going to talk to the installer about the over cranking and the trunk/unlock issues. With the BROWN / oem disarm wire, if I tell the installed to hook the ORANGE / white wire from cn2 to that, will the car remote start without unlocking doors first? I think I have also noticed that with the automatic arming, like 3 seconds after the last door is closed, the car arms the alarm by itself, then locks the doors twice. Maybe 2 or 3 seconds apart. I would assume it's the compustar triggering the oem alarm then the compustar alarm itself. Is there a factory arm wire in the DKP, and is there a way to make it lock just once? So far this alarm is very odd to me, and it looks more like the installation than anything.

Again, thanks in advance.
