Hi;

I am getting ready to install a remote start in a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I am 90% sure this vehicle has a factory alarm because it has every other option on it. What is the easiest transponder bypass unit to get? I would like to control the door locks and factory alarm disable through it. I would also like to download a manual so I can read up on how to install it.

Are there any videos available to install these transponders?

Thanks for any pointers
Pat

if the rubber on your key is grey then you have a chip in it, to test for a factory alarm roll the dr window down  lock the doors wait a few mintues then open the door from the inside handle, if the horn goes off you have a factory alalrm,

you can use the d.e.i piece xk531 it does door locks and transponder bypass

you can also use a 555c to bypass the chip, or a 556u will also bypass the chip but you will loose a key, and then use a 455j which does door locks and alarm bypass

I always use the 555c and the 455j with no problems

look it up at www.bypasskits.com or www.xpresskit.com

or try www.idatalink.com they have good modules to

i dont know much about the fortin stuff it looks like it will work

I just installed the XK531 it was cheap 20 bucks on ebay and works great, except for I can only get my lights to flash during remote start mode by tapping into the flasher relay or not leaving the automatic headlight switch on. I assume that is a common problem though as I have not found a work around as of now.
