I'm in the process of installing a r/s on my wifes 2002 Chrysler 300m.  All has gone well until I got to the point of programming the bypass kit.  I purchased an Omega DB-CHDL2P  bypass/databus combo unit.  The instructions state to put a valid key in for 3 seconds, then remove and put in a second valid key, then after 10 seconds you get a chime and security light starts flashing.  All this happens correctly.  At this point inst. say to hold the colored dot of the PKU module (which I assume is the bypass module) close and towards the ignition barrel, then use a jumper to power up veh. ignition.  Now, there is no colored dot on the bypass module, but there is a round hole in the top of it,  so I assume this is the spot to put against the ign. barrel.  The instr. say that after 10 sec a chime will sound and the security light will stop flashing, then turn on solid for 3 seconds, then turn off.  This is supposed to be the end of programming the bypass portion of module.  The chime does sound after ten seconds but the security light just continues to flash.  The other functions of the module are working correctly, I am controlling the door locks and trunk pop with the r/s remote via this module.  I can't figure out if I am doing something wrong or if I just have a bad bypass module.  I have tried to program it several times with exactly the same results.  I also went back and tried programming with doors closed and windows up after reading a post here that suggested that my be the problem.  At this point, as I said, the door locks and trunk pop work, and it will actually start the car.  But then the car shuts down after a second or two.  Also, I tested the remote start only (before I hooked up the bypass to the databus wire) with the key in the ignition, and it worked fine.  However, now (with the bypass installed), I think the car shuts down ofter remote start whether the key is in the ignition or not.  It does start and run fine when using the key to start.  I'm sorta scratchin my head at this point.  I was hoping that somebody might have an idea or some advice for me.

Thanks alot,

Dirk Martin

As a correction to my original post.  I had stated that the car would not stay running with the key in the ign. when remote started.  I looked at it again and it actually does stay running if the key is in the ign when remote started.  Just in the cylinder, not turned forward at all.  In fact, all other functions are working properly (lock, unlock, trunk pop, security system disable) , just not the transponder function.  Any input appreciated.

To anyone who might  read this post with a similar problem, I figured it out.  I was trying to perform this program function with the harness plugged into the bypass module, and all the wires already hooked up to the car.  So, the bypass module had power and ground and was fuctioning properly for other actions.  Apparently, to program the transponder in the bypass module, the harness has to be unplugged (ie no power to unit) in order for it to "take" the programming from the car, or the car wasn't sending the programming because the module was hooked up.  Either way, I unplugged it to program and all is right with the world now.

what i find that is simple and works every time without a hassle

is to do the full install

connect the wait to start wire to ground

one key in light out

second key in wait for light flash after 10 -15 sec or chime

pull the key out

then remote start and wait for light flash or chime to confirm programing

and its done

i also use this to program most other modules that have a tranponders

theres no wizing around powering up ignition circuits or holding modules to the key cylinder
