I have recently purchased a used car that has the APS 786 alarm/remote start installed but no transmitter. I purchased the correct transmitter and need help programing it to the unit. I've looked in the owners manual and these are the closest instructions I could find on this but I still can't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

pg 2,
"If your transmitter button is pressed more than fifty times while it is out of range of the vehicle (children playing with your keys), the transmitter will not operate when you return to the vehicle, and will need to be re-aligned to the receiver. press the Lock/Unlock button two times within a one second time period. The system will now respond to that transmitter each time a button is pressed."

That procedure won't work for programming new remotes.

Use the search feature here on this site.......try keywords like "audiovox program," "prestige remote programming," stuff like that, and you should be able to find it.

If it's like most Avox products, the procedure is...

turn Key on

press valet button 3 times, get 1 chirp

press button 1 on remote, get 1 chirp

press valet button 1 time, get 2 chirps

press button 2 on remote, get 1 chirp

press valet button 1 time, get 3 chirps

press button 3 on remote, get 1 chirp

press valet button 1 time, get 4 chirps

press button 4 on remote, get 1 chirp

turn key off
