I own a 2006 Dodge Dakota ST Quad Cab. I recently installed MES power lock kit and the DEI 712T keyless entry. Can anyone tell me how to wire the locks for progressive unlocks. I believe they are negative trigger and the brown wire to the actuator unlocks it and the purple wire locks it. I also can't get the horn honk to work. I used the brown wire from the DEI 712T and spliced into the green w/ purple wire in the truck (under the steering column. My last question is about the parking light output. I hooked the white DEI wire to the pink w/ red wire behind the truck's light switch but they would not flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you set the parking light polarity for neg instead of positive?

Progressive locking, send the GREEN/ black or green from the 712t to the purple on the MES relay, send the blue/black or blue from the 712T via 1 relay (see relay section) to the blue motor lock wire for driver's door, join your secondary unlock wire (assuming the 712t has one, otherwise this can't be done) to the brown on the MES relay. To  Blue driver's motor lock wire from 30, blue or blue/black from 712T to 85, blue lock wire from MES unit to 87a and 12v @ 7.5 amps to 86 and 87. Can't you take the white wire set up as neg going to the WHITE/ red (?) Haz switch via a 330R?

I tried it both ways. Neither worked. I have varying information on the parking light wiring. If the pink/red runs to the left side and WHITE/ orange runs the the right side then do I just splice into both wires? If the wire is positive then it will show volt when the parking lights are turned on? The wiring info I have says they are positive but I did not check.

you can use both those wires yes, you need to diode isolate them if you do. they will show 12v when you test them. please test them.

Thanks for the help about the parking lights. When I hooked up the pink/red then why didn't the left lights flash? What is the advantage of the diode?

Howie,
The DEI 712T has a built in relay to hook up progressive locks at least that is what I gather from reading other posts. If they are built in then how would I wire it? The manual for the DEI 712T is in the manual section here. I am new to this kind of install and don't fully understand relays so any help is much appreciated.

did you test that wire first to make sure it was the correct wire?

the 712T does indeed have built in relays, but, not for the progressive door lock output. that output is a low current output and will need an external relay to make that feature work.

ckeeler - I tested the pink/red and it received voltage when i turned on the parking lights. I can't remember if it was a full 12 volts. But when I splice into it did nothing. Do you think I have the wired spliced into both the left and right side wires for it to work. (This may sound dumb but I am confused if the wire is - then would it normally carry current and then the current would go to 0 when the switch is on?)
howie - so I can hook it up like you said in the previous post.

Thanks Again!

You need to get the parklight wires in the engine compartment, not at the switch. pink/red and WHITE/ orange, they are at the fuse/relay box on the driver side fender and will show 12v when the switch is on, 0v when off. make sure the unit is set to have positive output on the white wire.

So does this mean I need a 7.5Amp relay? Can you also explain the last two sentences?

Asking this question means you don't have the ability or more to the point knowledge to do this install. No fuse a standard 5 terminal i.e. single pole changeover with a 7.5 amp fuse, because the driver's door motor if correctly installed will draw between 4 and 7 amps. The second point is that on some Chrysler vehicles you can bring on the hazards with one wire grounded through a resistor. CK You were right.

Howie,  You are right and that is why I am on this site trying to learn.  I have it installed and with the help of you and others I will have it all hooked up correctly in a day or two.  Thanks Again.
