The system is working great and easy to install,,,but can't figure out what the small button on the side of the transmitter is for? It is called a five button transmitter, but fifth button doesn't seem to do anything...that I can figure out. If anyone knows please let me know....Thanks....I think this is a great site. I'm not sure about your model, however on my clifford it is a shift button. press once for channels 5,6,7,8 or twice for 9,10,11,12

I just bought the 550-s alarm and was wondering if you hooked up the keyless entry option? And if so did u put a fuse on the 12v to the relays??? I am gtting an unusally hot wire...i am not sure if this is because of wire guage or requiring an inline fuse?? Thanx

The button on the side is for controlling another vehicle if you had two 550s alarms. like one in your wifes car and one in your own, you could use just one transmitter to control both cars. Or I had a customer want his main transmitter programmed so that he had to press the button on the side before pushing any buttons because he kept starting his car accidently when his keys were in his pocket. Cripe this guy had about 40 keys on his key chain.

Shawn you should start your own thread.
How do you have your relays wired for the actuators?

I have them wired as directed in the manual. However I have heard that i should not use the ones sold at car stores since they are not spdt??? Is there anywhere else we can get them locally? Shawn240sx

Shawn my Grand prix had stock elect. door locks, I used two relays wired with 12 gauge wire to operate them and the power line is fused from the car fuse panel. I am also using the two step unlock (one click for driver's door and two click for all doors). Haven't had any trouble with the system. Good luck.
