I have an 82 Chevy Truck with shaved door handles. I am having a problem with my actuators not fully opening the door handle. If I have the door open it pulls fine and the interior door handle swings all of the way open, as it should. However, if I close the door and hit the button, it stops just short of opening the door. As if it's not quite pulling the handle far enough. This has been an ongoing problem with the passenger door for the last year. However it just started on the driver side today. I just got the truck back from the painters last week so I thought it might be due to some paint in the latch but it was working fine for the last week until today. I sprayed some lube on the latch both inside and outside the door and it still wont release. What else should I look for? Is the cable from the actuator to the door latch to loose? Any other thoughts? Thanks Craig

i would check the cable or it is posible that the product is defective

I assume you are reffering to the cable that attaches the actuator to the door latch. How tight should it be? Is there a way to test to see if it's defective?

well i don't know the actuator's that you are useing i would just tighten them untill either you can't tighten them any more
but do it slowly try tighten them then test it if still no good go more
but there is really no way to test for defect only way to tell is if you can't get it to work

ok ,thanks for the info. If i need to shop for new actuators are there any brands that are known to be more relaible than others?

I figured the problem out. It wasn't that the cable was loose. It was a bad angle! I moved the solenoid to a better location that significantly decreased the angle that it has to pull. This was an instant fix. The driver door seems to be working fine but I am going to move it too.
