93 civic si compustar starter problems

details:

1993 Honda Civic Si
5 Spd
compustar pro 900 fm series.
secondary starter wire used to bypass clutch for auto-start
tach wire (blue wire on distributor)

problems:
1. sometimes the clutch bypass works and sometimes it doesn't, it mostly works when the car has sat for a bit of time, but if you just got out of a store and tried to use the auto-start, it doesn't bypass the clutch, *thinking about changing the secondary starter wire to status out wire*

2. if the bypass works, the car will start but will not stay on and you can hear the starter grinding as if the car has not started. the car does stay on, but i don't think its detecting a tach signal for some reason. if its cold the starter works as the tach signal will read alot higher as the rev's will be at around 1500-1800 due to the cold start, but anything less than 1000 rpm at idle after the car has provisionaly been started will not trigger the auto-start. car will start and be on, but compustar cannot keep it idle, so it shuts off.

can anyone point me in the right direction please. thanks.

Disconect the first starter out from the ign. harness. It's not needed on the 5 speed bypassing the clutch.

The only starter wire used from your remote start should be the one connected at the clutch switch.

I'm a little bit confused on what you wrote.

if you remove the starter wire from the ignition harness how will the car start?

so i should remove the starter wire from the alarm that's attached to the ignition harness and move it to the ground wire on the clutch?

oh also would you know my tach problem?

i'm sure it learned the tach as when i press the brake and hold the start button it chirps one signaling i have a tach signal, but don't know why it read the signal, i have to be in the car and rev it a bit in order for the car to stay on.

It will start thru the wire at the clutch!

Your tach issue, I have no idea other than making sure you have the correct wire.

At a gray plug on the strut tower. Blue wire. It's also found INSIDE the car at a plug on top of

the fuse box, same color. gray 14 pin plug.

Assuming you set tach whilst engine was cold idling, try again but this time after car has warmed up then set tach.

i will try to re-wire the tach wire tomorrow to the location near the strut tower, is that wire all blue as well? i mean not a blue with yellow or anything..


as for learning the tach. drove the car for 45 mins to work and re-learned the tach and still nada. cranks and turns over but won't hold, just dies.

i get a err08 on the remote.

also do i connect the starter wire to the postive side rather than the negative side of the switch..
