I had the avital remote start and alarm installed in my expedition back in march then I deployed. While I was deployed my wife drove the vehicle and the battery died twice. The business that installed the system went out of business. I returned and I tracked down the installer at another shop who looked at my system. I am drawing 500ma when everything is off, but since I have returned have not had any battery issues. Also it is getting colder here now, and the remote start won't work when the temp is down near freezing, but works when the weather warms up, any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated, thank you.

many different possibilities for the excessive current draw. check the draw then pull fuses on the alarm to see if it drops. as far as the not starting when cold, did you give them a key to put in a bypass under the dash? if so, then the problem is the ford keys rf based transponder in the key gets weaker when it gets cold out. either freeze the key (in the freezer) then position the key in the bypass and remote start. it may take a few attempts to find the "sweet spot" for the key while it's cold. other option would be to get a data based bypassed such as an XK04 or a PKALL, etc.
which branch are you in?

To verify this is the problem beforehand, try the RS. Does the factory security light on top of the dash flash or go solid then out? If it starts flashing than the problem is the bypass for sure.... ------------- Mike M2
