depends if u r using the keyless entry on the unit, but i still would recomend hooking up the fasd wire regardless

you have to by pass the factory pass lock anti theft system in order to remote start but there is no factory security on the '02 cavalier.  i dont think there is even a factory arm disarm wire to be found in that vehicle.

Ckeeler is right on two counts: the Passlock will need to be bypassed, and Cavaliers/Sunfires with the factory Content Theft alarm(not to be confused with the Passlock system) cannot be disarmed with an external wire.  The content theft alarm disarms automatically when the ignition comes on so there's no need to worry about it with a remote starter.
