does anyone know if the ford focus has an rfid chip in the key??  from the looks of the key itself it is a 1piece contruction.  id hate to tear the key up to find out that there isnt one in it.  need this info for a special project i am working on with my company.

thanks,

David

its for a carshare program at ohio state university.  basically the built in ant ring on our module works like the old dei 555u.  we just arent sure if the key had a resistor inside or an actual rfid chip due to being a 1 piece contruction and not wanting to destroy a key and find nothing.  to be honest, the module is made by a company in france and our company has been contracted to install these devices.  we are kinda learning as we go about them.

Yes to the RFI chip, if your key has a red part at the back end, prise this out with a pen-knife and it will bring out the chip.
