I have a 02 Mazda protege with power locks. I have the astrostart BDA brain which has a built in relays for lock and unlock. But when I look at the wire diagram, it says that my lock and unlock is a one wire setup.

It says I need a negative trigger with a 2.2k resistor on the lock wire, and a negative trigger one the unlock wire.

Does this mean I hook the lock and unlock wire to the single wire in the car. And on the lock wire just put in a resistor?

Exactly right make both lock and unlock connections on the single wire in the vehicle.  Solder in your 2200 ohm resistor in line with negative lock output of your remote start unit.
