We started installing a very cheap bulldog remote start in my friends 2002 alero today. It is for a project, so there wasn't a need to get an better model. Anyway, we got it working, after hooking up the third ignition wire (green) to 12V temporarily to see if it would start, and it did. Then we tied it to one of the ignition outputs like the directions said. However, now the car will not start via the remote start.
The car will start with the key.
After checking connections, everything is still connnected OK, but it won't start. I am suspecting the PassLock system isn't happy. Although that wouldn't explain why the car started initially :) Anyway, I am looking into getting the DEI unit for bypass and I am looking for some instructions on how to hook it up prior to getting it. Anyone have them?
Also, I believe I found the Passlock wires on the ignition switch. There are yellow, black and white wires on the opposite side of the ignition switch. Are these the Passlock wires? I gather they are by looking at other bypass unit instructions. Can anyone verify this?

Have you tried to use a relay for the 2nd and 3rd ignition wires ? Make sure that you don't get those two mixed up wither. 2nd IGN is GREEN and 3rd IGN is DARK GREEN. ------------- Jeff

Thanks for the reply, we got it working today.
We purchased the DEI 555L unit from a seemingly reluctant Best Buy installer. "The general public doesn't know enough to install one of these." Yea, I think 3 computer engineering students can figure it out :).
Anyway, we installed that unit, but still no go. I though that maybe the instrument cluster must be hooked up to start. When we hooked it up, it started. Funny thing is, we then unhooked it, and it would still start via the remote. Keep in mind that this whole time, the key would start the car. Very odd, but I am sure there is a good reason for this that I don't know of. We put
everything back together and all is happy now.
I figured I would post my experience here for others knowledge. Thanks for the help!
