Hello everybody,

I just got my 5701 viper alarm installed on my 08' camry se with remote start at a local dealer, and man i love it. but i been wanting to customize many things with this alarm, as far as siren volume and siren tone customization. and no where in the installation nor owners manual does it say how to do that. i searched the forums as well and no luck.i was hoping someone will point me in the right direction as far as where to find these instructions because the viper manual and installation guide are lacking instructions on their product. thanks and forgive me if someone already covered this subject because i cant seem to find it anywhere even google. thanks again,

There isn't a lot you can do, and the siren volume isn't directly adjustable, but:

1. Open the hood, and look at the siren. There'll be a heavy red and a heavy black wire, those go to the alarm brain.

But there's also a loop of thin black wire. If you cut that, the arm/disarm chirps will be louder. But that would just serve to annoy your neighbors when you lock and unlock......when the alarm is violated, the siren already sounds at full volume.

2. DEI sirens used to have a thing inside, where there were six little wires.....those represent the six tones that the siren cycles through. You could cut some of of the wires to eliminate the tones you don't like.

But I'm not sure if you can do that with their newer sirens. Hopefully someone else here knows for sure.

3. You can always add more/different sirens. Maybe a second siren from a different-brand alarm. But usually they all make the same tones anyway. Older Code Alarms had kind of a cool-sounding siren.

4. You might also be interested in DEI's piezo siren. It's a small, very compact siren, that makes very high frequency sounds. You'd install it in the interior, to irritate any thief who manages to break into the car, hopefully making him want to get out of the car fast instead of stealing all your stuff.

they make a horn that makes programmable animal sounds. hook that bad boy up to your alarm's horn output and set it on "pulse". your neighbors will love you for it

dei used to have this alarm siren that you could connect via usb to the pc and download mp3 songs to it. the only reason i know is because my dads friend had one of those and i remeber looking at it, in big letters DEI

i like the way the old Clifford and Alpine sirens sounded. i have a few old ones that i saved and always add one of them to the standard whatever comes with whatever for when i do one for my own vehicles.
