Hello I have installed a Prostart 2way LCD remote starter in my 1999 GMC Sonoma. I also purchased a ADS TBSL PL from Canadian Tire to bypass the passlock II. I neeed to get the prostart and bypass moduel to communicate. as per tech support from 12voltdata.com "The prostart remote starters requires now that you program your bypass module communication mode.
Check in the install guide, in your programming modes, you will find a selection for bypass iDatalink Trilogix and Fortin. Chose iData.
In the next menu you will have to chose <1 way> or <2 way> communication. Chose one way.
The module will then start to react to the remote starter comands since they will both be on the same communication protocol.

According to this sites wiring details the 1999 Sonoma has: Ignition - pink - wire harness Ignition 2 - brown- wire harness Ignitiion 3 - white or WHITE/ pink - wire harness, trans I know your supose to wire in the second ignition wire when insalling the remote start i have put in, which is considered the second ignition????

I have solved the first problem with programming the communication. But my check engine light comes on when i start it

you missed an ignition wire. if you dont connect both ignitions, the engline light will show up. if i remeber PINK and WHITE are you main ones and brown is for the radio.

I am a little confused. Is the second ignition wire a big on like the pink ignition wire (main one), there is a white one but it is small. I connected there and the light is still on

ignitions, starter and main power wires are often the larger gauge wires (12 or 16 gauge) the small white one you see is the key sense if i remember correcty. I dont install on domestic cars much.

Do you think that wiring chart on this site is wrong, saying the brown is a ignition too? the prostart allows you to download a similar chart and it says ignition 2 is white or pink/white. I do not think i have either. i must be missing somthing here. is it possible the 5th relay on the prostart is not working? if i get this corrected will the check engine light clear it self? it must be a larger wire, there is a large RED / white wire, i thought that was the 2nd ignition, anyone know what this wire is for??

well you can always test the 5th relay with a volt meter and see whats going on.

How would i test it? does it put out 12v ducring the start up?

the 5th relay output is 12v. so take a dmm volt meter, connect BLACK to ground and RED to the 12v line. set the meter to 20v DC and when you start the car, the meter will show 11 - 12.4 volts when it begins the remote start sequence. see if the wire always stays at 12v during start sequence or it drops power then comes back on.

Hey just an update. I had it connected to the white wire (which is a smaller wire than the ignition 1) . the light went off today after the battery was connected and reconnected. I think tthe check engine light just needed to reset. Thanks for the help tedmond, i think i got it now Ben
