Quick question -- 2006 F350 SD with 6.0 diesel, when unit is remote started, with 10 sec delay timer counting down, should the glow plug coil in the instrument cluster be illuminated?  It seems like the glow plugs function, the unit starts great.  First time installing in a diesel.  Thanks in advance.

I would suspect so, because your just bypassing the key. When the Ign wire is energized, the glowplugs should start warming the engine. Once it reaches a certain temp, then they shut down. It shouldn't matter if the key turns on IGN or if the remote start supplies power.

your unit should have a glow plug input. if you wire up the glow plug inputt then even on the coldest days, the unit will know exactly when the plug is hot enough then begin remote start sequence.

only problem is that you cant wire in to the glow plug wire on an 06 6.0 ford because there is no wire you can tie in to, its done through data.

There are 2 ignition and 2 accessory wires on that vehicle.  Did you get both of them?

ckeeler, thanks for the info. does any data bypass offer a glow plug output ? i know most data bypasses have tach which isnt the greatest, but at least they have it.

Any decent system comes with an adjustable delay for diesel motors, so a glow plug wire is not needed. This is besides the point anyways, as this was not the posters original question. Lazorus, check out what I am an idiot said.

thanks for the replies, it turns out I had a bad output on a wire in the remote, wouldnt send a (-) , switched wire and reprogrammed, works fine now, and yes, it should illuminate.  Thanks

that would be nice, although i dont know of any that do. probably because its not that needed because the units can be programmed. oh well posted_image
