See if the van's keysense and doorpin circuits are functioning correctly.

Ignition off, key in ignition, door open. You should hear the key-in-ignition warning chime, and of course the domelight should come on.

If the domelight's on but the chime isn't, the keysense wire might have been broken, or the (fragile) keysense switch inside the key cylinder could have gotten bent out of shape.

If the domelight's not on, maybe something with the door pin switch circuit is faulty.

keysence is working. I have chime and domelight. The van now locks all doors when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to on. It only used to after I began driving.

The remote start i put in is a viper 160xv. Hooked loc to pinkw / YELLOW and unlock to pink/lt. green. When I disconnect the wires it still does not convenience unlock with the driver door open and key in ignition.

For the convenience unlocking - try it with the key turned to on perhaps? Or disconnect the battery for a few minutes and try again.

For the automatic lock with ignition on - the Viper is probably controlling the locks there. If you'd like to disable this it can be done by changing the program settings on the Viper.
