ok ive had this happen to me at least twice and i was wondering if anybody has had the same issues with older style ford f150 locks. so like a good installer i start testing the locks on the drivers switch and for a few cycles(lock and unlock) the locks will work fine and then they will start to get weaker and weaker until they dont work at all. so i would let it sit there for a minute and they would work again for a few more cycles. this isn't really a problem unless you like to press the lock button all the time and ive only had this happen to me 2 or 3 times but always on older style F150's. does anyone know why this happens? i was thinking there might be some sort of capacitor that needs to charge up to give power to the locks but who knows. also this isn't the only problem ive ever had with F150 locks so maybe its just bad engineering

The door lock motors in those trucks constantly go bad. I've had the exact same thing happen to me many a times, in fact, i have made a lot of money replacing the factory stuff with aftermarket actuators, because the customer didnt want to pay a dealer.

ditto. happens in a lot of older fords. particularly the f150s. i ended up replacing all 5 actuators in my '97 explorer last year as they get about as bad as the f150

yeah thats what i figured. i was just wondering if there was something wrong that i unknowingly did. it got so bad sometimes that i would tell customers about the possible problems before i did an install so to them it wouldn't look like it was something i did
