I have done a few Ford Hybrids but was told by the Audiovox Tech Department that the Toyotas have an issue with remote starts because the gas engine does not start under normal sequence. They said that there isnt a way to get the gas engine to start, that it is pure electric, any info?

I have done a 2006 Toyota Highlander Hybrid (same as a 2007) with an Audiovox APS-57 & its been working perfect for over 2 years. I've checked with the customer many times.

Not to say anything bad about Audiovox tech support, but maybe you got the wrong person. I believe if you have the heat & the fan on, it forces the gas engine to start & produce the heat needed. That's the way I understand it.

What model Audiovox are you using? All I install is Audiovox brand.

Same remote start unit, same car. You are not going to have a problem. It'll work!

Let us know what happens after you do it.

I've done a few Prius with no problems. The motor generally runs when the car is cold until proper coolant temps, so in everyday use it works fine...
