I installed a carvox two way remote start in a 99 dodge caravan. Had it all working just perfect. The next day it doesn't want to work. Everything seems to work fine except starting. It locks and unlocks my doors. The parking lights flash when opening doors. The two communication seems to be working fine as it will show me when a door is open on the remote. But when I try to start it just runs for a second and dies. It also cranks the starter over a little longer than it should...longer than when it was operating correctly the day before. I've looked over everything and I don't see what could have happened. My valet switch is staying lit constantly now also. I was reading somewhere about holding the valet switch down while the vehicle was running with the key to learn the tach signal. I figured what the hell and I tried it on mine which has made the valet switch stay lit now.

Where do you have your tach wire connected to?

I had it coiled around my number one plug wire as it said in the manual. After all this started happening I tried connecting it to the tach wire going to the coil pack which I got a reading of about 330 when setting my meter to AC volts. The valet switch isn't staying lit anymore...I got that to turn off, I think I had it in some sort of service mode or something. The manual on this thing is pretty vague.

Ahh...one of those Chinese tach wires with no instructions - done a few of them and didn't like it one bit. However they eventually worked.
Try holding the tach wire to the positive battery terminal during remote start. If that wire is anything like others I've done it will sense a proper remote start when it sees:
a. A valid tach signal.
b. Increased voltage from the alternator with the engine running.
c. Ground from the oil pressure switch.
Unfortunately it's hit or miss which one will actually work with any given car. If the tach wire doesn't work when temporarily connected to constant power, try remote starting and then applying the wire to ground once the engine's actually started. (This simulates the oil pressure switch.)

hey chriswallace, i installed a few no name units myself, but for the oil pressure indicator, i always ran into units that when it saw a 12v, it would stop cranking.

Aww hell tedmond, you would be able to make junk work wouldn't you? How many normal, average installers would even try? :-0
I don't think I've ever found one of those RS's that wouldn't work with the start sensing wire connected to battery voltage either...I guess the "oil pressure indicator" connection remains theoretical.
I hope no one thought my previous comment ethnic in nature...just maybe a bit nationalistic. It doesn't matter where any product's made, just how well the manual is written in English and how few times it will have to go through customs to get to you. Bypasskit's stuff has waited at the border for a day or two a few times lately it seems as well.
