First of all, II'm a complete noob here and I'm I'm not the installer, but my installer hit a dead-end so I'm looking for help. He installed an Avital 4113l remote start in my '05 Dakota. Works fine, except when you lock the doors with the electric locks, then use the remote start, the alarm goes off. If you unlock first this doens't happen or lock each door manually. Anyone have an answer or a resource to point me too. TIA

That's on the strange side for this to occur on that vehicle. 2 questions which will help me figure it out:
1. Do you have the newer-style Chrysler key with the integrated remote control, or a conventional key with a plastic covered head and a separate remote for the keyless entry? If you have the older style key, is the head of it black or gray?
2. If the alarm is going off, will it stop when you turn the key in the driver's door to the unlock position, or do you have to press "unlock" on the remote to stop it?

Thanks for the reply! The key is a black intergrated key, just so I'm not confusing terminology, the remote (with lock, unlock and panic) are in the head uilt onto the top of the key. The alarm does not disable with the key in the door. The installer told me that's where he encountered the problem. There's no disable wire from the keyed door lock and that's usually what he'd tap into to disable the theft derrent system with the remote start I'm beginning to wonder if maybe the theft deterrent was added at the dealer (I'm second owner) and maybe they didn't install something and my next trip should be to a Dodge dealer to get that corrected....I also thought about just having him disable the theft deterrent system altogether. I don't live in a high crime area, that might be the quick and dirty answer...although it'd be nice to have all my stuff work. any thoughts woould be appreciated.

Ok that's sort of making some sense. One more question:
With the alarm armed, when you attempt a remote start, does the car actually start or not?
If it doesn't start, then I would suspect an intermittent problem with the Sentry Key bypass(Sentry Key being the factory immobilizer - the factory alarm on the Dakota is supposed to disarm when it sees ignition on and a valid transponder key code).
If it does start and the alarm triggers anyway, I would suspect that you actually have a dealer-installed alarm which activates with the locks. Such an alarm could actually be disarmed using a wire (most likely it would have a disarm input connected to the unlock motor lead, which could be isolated with a relay controlled by the remote start's disarm output).
