I am changing my remote starter on my RAM 3500 diesel. The other (ultrastart) starter worked flawlessly. The new starter (Prostart) works great but the I can only get the locks to lock and not unlock.I am using the same resisters as the other system all I did was clip the wires off and re-solder.After checking the resistance of what was in there I kinda wonder how the heck it worked in the first place...It is SUPPOSED to be LOCK 820 ohm UNLOCK 330 ohm The resisters that were in there measured LOCK 2200 ohm UNLOCK 550 ohm.I am guessing this is why the locks won't unlock but,
1)why are they locking without the proper resistance?
2)why was it working with the other system? The lock/unlock wires are the same on both systems (-500ma).
Maybe its just one of those things???Does anyone have any thoughts?

If it ain't broke...Maybe it should be!
check your connection where you spliced into the old wires. if you soldered the wires it could be a cold solder joint (these things happen, i'm not trying to say anything bad about you) which would throw off the resistance. try touching the wires straight to ground and see what they do. if they work find then you need a relay even though you shouldn't have to. also, how old are the resistors? are they corroded at all?

Not sure how old the resisters are but they worked this morning with the other system...The resistance was measured right on the resister (after I took them out). As far as I know the solder was good. The lock function was working and that resistance was WAY outa wack...I will pick up some new resisters tomorrow and see what happens.Unless there are any other ideas??
thanx

I can't explain it but the old resisters worked with the other system and not with the new one...I just put in new resisters and viola! The next "home" project is an '03 Murano...hopefully it goes as smooth as I anticipate.
