hey guys. im getting ready to do my alarm/ remote start on my 06 dakota st base model no electric lock or windows.

ive got one question which ive never ran into before.

on the truck diagram for a couple of lights it says:

H/L pink/blue (example): negative triggered with a 112 ohm resistor, must use relay?????

what exactly does that mean? and how would it be wired?

im leaning towards the "negative door trigger relay example" in the security section

any help would be appreciated

noone? did i not state it right?

it means it must be triggered with a negative pulse "THROUGH" a 112 ohm resistor and it is NOT low current so you must do it through a relay.

ok im kinda getting it. so how would that be wired?

lets say im doing dome light with my alarm. it says negative trigger through a resistor. how would that be wired? does anyone have a diagram or...

I'm confused. You want to connect the domelight supervision or door trigger? neither need a resistor. Is this example hypothetical? What exactly are you trying to do?

ok example. since my truck has manual everything.

the TRUCK'S diagram says:

parking lights- (blue/white)-whatever. than it says: lights are negtive trigger through a # resistor. MUST use relay.

how would that example be wired up for my alarm?

i hope that is clear becuase im confused with this whole resistor thing

"ckeeler]it means it must be triggered with a negative pulse "THROUGH" a 112 ohm resistor and it is NOT low current so you must do it through a relay."

like ckeeler said, ur hooking ur parking light output through a relay wired to give a negative output, u place the 112ohm resistor in line betwwen the negative output of the relay and the car's park light wire, you can look in the relay section of this site, for info on how to wire your relay accordingly to the type of park light polarity on the alarm, if ur still unclear post back.

ok so the color wire stated in the schematics that is negative triggered, would be the wire i tap into and then between THAT wire and the relay goes a resistor? and from there hook up the 12 volt and back to the alarm brain?

could you please draw up what it should look like?

ok, i don't know if the wire u stated as being the park light wire is or not, you have to verify using a meter, but her's how u connect it, i'm assuming here ur alarm's park light is positive polarity, if it's not post back. the park light from the alarm connects to the terminal labelled positive trigger on the relay. and the resistor goes between the negative output of the relay and the car's park light wire.

so + trigger comes from the alarm brain.
green negative goes to ?negative? park light wire? cause i think they are constant 12v and ground switched.

and then ground the other 2 posts?

what about resistors like it says in the scematics?

that's correct positive trigger from the park light on ur brain, green goes to the park light wire in the car, between the green wire and the park light wire is where u insert the resistor, and yes u ground the other two posts, it can't get any simpler.
