I did one of these yesterday the car had the smart key thing and push button start with xk07, folllowed the directions perfectly, long but smooth install. I got to the programming part and the xk07 just kept blinking for five min. tried to shut down the ignition and all the lights went off in the instrument panal (the push button start light stayed on) and then the car went back to the ignition position by it self. The car also did not start while it was doing this so i pulled the negative battery and it shut down. Also while it is programming the car will not start. After some trouble shooting it tried remote starting it while it was programming, it started up but did not shut down.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on here? or does anyone know if it needs to program for longer than five minutes?

The XK07 isn't a good choice for the Altima, because it doesn't allow you to take over and drive away. The manufacturer pretends it does, but it doesn't.
But besides that, it shouldn't take more than ten seconds or so to program.
You should have the wires connected as follows:
Red: constant
Black: ground
Brown: ground-when-running from remote starter (but even if you didn't hook this up, it's not needed just for programming)
Orange: ignition wire from car
Purple: CAN High (blue wire)
PURPLE / white: CAN Low (pink wire)
So, if you're not getting it to program, it could be one of the following problems:
No power on red wire
No ground on black wire
No power on orange wire with ignition on
CAN wires incorrect or reversed.
CAN wires: They're blue and pink, twisted pair, and you can find them all over the place, almost anywhere in the car you want.
I usually get them at the corner of the plug at the BCM that has the ignition and accessory wires, but you could also get them at the OBDII mechanic's diagnostic plug under the dash.
I think somewhere on the net there's an Altima install manual with the two CAN wires listed backwards.
It's definitely purple to the blue (High) and PURPLE / white to the pink (Low).

the fortin can sl-2, was the chosen bypass on another recent thread for an altima install, you could read up on it, it's on the first page of the car securty and convenience section, problems differ but you could gain some info, the bypass is also highly reccomended for ur specific vehicle, although you still have to shut down and restart, unless you use the key that slides from ur proximity key.

Chris Luongo doesn't like the XK07 & I very much respect his opinion. He hasn't had good luck with them & he is disgusted with tech support lying to him. He has some great troubleshooting advice above. I have only one installed in a 2007 Altima & it works fine according to the customer. Chris wanted me to check to see if the customer can lock the doors & set the factory alarm & then use the remote start, but I haven't had a chance to check that yet. My feelings are: since you already spent a day on it & its already installed, try to find the problem, rather than rip it out & start over with a new wiring & new bypass module. I'm sure you can get it working. ------------- Good Enough Isn't!

alright well it was the wires...they were switched around. So we now have the remote start working, the only issue we have is that we have to hit unlock and then remote start it. If we don't do this, it won't take over. Here are the steps i take..
push unlock
remote start the car
push the button twice to ignition position
drive away (key light is still on near the seatbelt light)
remote start is disabled
if I dont' hit unlock and then remote start it, the car will never take over the remote start so when i hit the brake, the car shuts off even if i push the button twice.
any suggestions on how to get the key light off? the intelli key is in the car because it wouldn't be able to be put in the ignition position with out it
