Hi folks Im having some problems finding a module for my truck. It is a Classic bodystyle(same as 06). Ive already got my Viper 5901 wired in with exception wires i need a module for(door lock/unlock and imobilizer) Most info ive found says to use Directed 457GW... little bit of searching shows the 457GW to have been replaced by 1700G and then 1700G1.

My big questions are: where can i find a module that will work for my truck(all sites ive found the 457GW,1700G and 1700G1 are out of stock).

Ive found plenty of Directed 1900G at a good price... what are the differences between 1700G and 1900G? will the 1900G work with my truck?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Eric

I see the pkugm2x is for hybrid/passkey III.... 07 was the first year for the New body style trucks...Mine is a Classic body = same as 06... Do the 06 trucks have Passkey II or III?

thanks

Eric

take a look at your key. if it says pk3 you have passkey 3... if it has a plus sign with a circle around it you have passkey plus... if there isnt anything written on the key  you most likely have passkey 2...

the iDatalink ADS-DLSL-GM1 will do everything including giving you tach, door trigger, arm/disarm,lock/unlock, defrost and also heated seat activation through temperature. It''s the one that we use all the time and have been 100 % effective on that truck

thanks for the input guys, I just ordered the Idatalink ADS-DLSL-GM which combines all three versions(GM1, GM2 and GM3) so i should be covered whether i have PassKey II or III... nothing special about my key, so it appears i have PassKey II.

thanks again

Eric

Hi again guys... Im having some problems getting everything working properly.

Prior to Idatalink, truck would remote start for 2-3 seconds, then the theftlock light on dash would start blinking and kill the truck.

During Idatalink install, i thaught i had "type 1" instal as described in the manual... but remote start would run for 2-3 sec then theftlock blinking again and kill the truck.

So, thinking perhaps i had type 2 instal, since anti theft appeared to be killing the truck.... i tried the "type 2" install... now the trucks anti theft light is on steady.

The truck still starts normal with key... but remote start gets about 1/2 a second of crank then nothing.

Any ideas on my two problems?

thanks, eric

ive always used the 1701g then wire in some resistors on the ignition wires and such and it works fine....ill post up a diagram tomorrow on how to do it....

Are you using stadard wiring or the RS232 ? If your using RS232 you use Type 1 and if you are using stadard wiring you program to type 2

this is a Classic body style... you don't need relays and resistors.... wire it like you would an 05, etc.  this vehicle has PL II only, not PK3+

make sure you properly select and lock in wiring mode (data or standard) first.... then program the module...

what did you use for tach?  if you used the idata module to supply tach to the 5901 it will shut down right away also... the Viper units don't like Idata's tach circuit... program your starter for voltage sense - 4 sec crank or else virtual tach......

I have found the tach output on the Idatalink units don't work well on GM products unless it is hard wired to the RS unit reguardless of who makes it....

Im using the standard wiring setup.
Tach is not hooked up, going to use a timer.
module is programed for standard wiring. locks/unlock works fine.

However my current problem/road block is that the Antitheft(pk II?) light is on and will only allow about 1/2 a sec of starter crank before it gets "shut down". Truck starts fine with the key normally but the antitheft light will not go out. Ive tried the 10min trick multiple times with no results.

prior to antitheft light being on constant, truck would start but only run for 5 seconds or so.... then antitheft light would blink and shut down the engine.

I guess that until i can get the antitheft light turned off, i cant move forward with install.....

hmmm... well finally the antitheft light turned off... after enough key cycles or what ever i guess...

back to starting and running for 4-5 seconds then antitheft light blinking and killing the engine.

ive gone through the module reprogram several times, still acts the same.

When you do the programming of the mdodule are you turning the ignition to the ON position and waiting for the GREEN light to turn on or are you starting the vehicle and then waiting for the GREEN light to turn on ? You have to start the vehicle after you choose Type 1 wiring in order to get the proper Passlock code from the vehicle.

perhaps i have been doing it incorrectly....

i plug in the power to the module while holding the button, wait for led to blink red, then release(module reset). Plug in rest of wires, press the button again until its blinking twice(standard wire hook up), then press&hold until LED lights green, then start truck.

the only thing thats not 100% clear in the instructions is when you release the button during programming? do you press&hold for green light, release, then start truck? or do you press&hold for green light, start truck, then release?
