Hi,

we've got a 1996 Honda SMX Lowdown and I'm now looking to fit a remote start alarm / immobiliser in it.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram / any wiring information available for it? I believe "some" parts of it are based on the Honda CRV

Cheers,

Steve

You'll find it very difficult finding a wiring diagram for SMX.  I recently installed Hi-Fi and alarm - with remote start and auto window closer - and used the CRV (1997) wiring diagram to achieve this.  The colour coding is identical (as is the under-dash fuse box)  and you'll need to figure out which wires to dis-regard (e.g. the SMX has two window closing switches whereas the CRV has four as standard).  The wiring diagram can be down loaded here.

The wiring for all Honda builds, Japan,Australia, US, France and UK is mostly identical except for UK build Civics, 96- 2000 AKA Rover 400 which had a different locking system a wider body, 5 doors instead of 3 and a different locking system. The CRV is dead easy and if it's a Japanese import you won't even need an immobiliser by-pass 'cause there ain't one!  Actually the CRV had a 2 wire neg at the driver's door lock module on it's first generation (with a pillar antenna), later gens had a 5 wire (motor wire interrupt with 2 relays) also at the driver's door module.
