i tried today to make a factory remote work via 2 relays

i have done this in other vehicles but i have had 2 vehicles not respond to it

a saturn ion and a sunfire why?

i can take the wires i solder to the remote and make the remote work every time

when i plug it into the remote starter i won't work

I thought this was going to be a "Do you know Jack" quiz. Darn!

First, what is "it" - "when i plug it into the remote starter i won't work"?

a factory remote controlled by two relays

Ok. How are you "plugging into" the remote starter?

it a viper starter so it has a 12 volt output as well as tow negative triggers lock and unlock

in a 3 pin plug

So I take it your using the blue and green to signal the relays and red to power the coils?

are you trying to hook up a remote start unit and trying to use the negative lock/unlock outputs to activate relays that you have attached to the factory remote circuit board in order to lock and unlock the doors?

If this is the case... why? it would take a lot less time and effort to run the lock and unlock wires off the remote start to the lock and unlock wires in the car.

thats right

even if i power the relays with 12 volts and put the triggers to ground it dosn't work

i extended the wires so that the remote was a long ways away from the remote

still dosn't work

but if i short the two wires going to the going to the relay 30 and 87 it works

Either your not getting 12V+ to the coils or your not getting signals on the blue and green. My guess is the 12V+, but I could be wrong. I'm with lostissues, also.

Oops. I read your lasr reply wrong. Here's an example: Power #86 with 12V+(FUSED) and ground #85. That will trip the relay.

relays are working

i has me stumped i tried progamming differnt lock duration times

i tried sheilding the relays with tinfoil and a metal can

diodes on the relay coil

i baffles me why i dosn't work

Ah.. OK. Seems you have your bases covered. Let me re-read this thread entirely, again.

Is it possible that the minute amount of EMF generated on the remote wires, from the coil, are reeking havoc with the remote? If so, you'll need to use a transistorized circuit.

its got to be an rf issue

i put the ion i did today back together

i just want to try and figure this out

so you figure putting a diode on 30 to 87?

Maybe. I would recommend using a transistorized relay circuit. You can build it yourself for a few dollars. You should be able to find schematics for a 12V circuit, with some googling. However, we're not really sure that's the issue but, at this juncture everything points to it.

Why not just use the relays to trigger the white lock/unlock wire in the vehicle???

He obviously has some mad-scientist scheme, he is concocting.

in order for me to retain the factory alarm

this is for vehicles that the alarm is controlled by factory remote only
