ok i just bought this unit and i just totally realized that it is only for automatics. now is there anyway i can use this on a manual transmission? it would really suck if it can work with a manual transmission since i just open the box and took everything out bag.
i haven't installed it yet though. i was reading the manual and the DataLearn part threw me off since it had said "put in PARK".
i hope this unit will work with a manual transmission since i just bout the k9 Eclipse, Rs-4lx and the IM04 for my 2006 Mustang GT. I can't believe i left out the fact that it's a manual...sigh...

Can't you bag it up and return it?

you can use it as long as you purchase a DEI 689m or a VSS (vehicle safety start) unit. This will run you about 40 - 70 dollars depends onw here you buy. But this will preven your car from starting it gear. Check the sales thread, there was one member selling it for 50 dollars which isnt bad at all.

d@mn.......this kit is starting to get more and more expensive......any other way like programing the rs-4lx to run without looking for park? or use an alarm trigger to act as the signal. i know having the unit look for park is a safety feature but i never leave that car in gear anyway.

well it is possible to install an auto unit into a manually tranny BUT i DO NOT RECOMEND you do. You sound like an honest person that doesnt leave the car in gear, but you will get flammed if you ask how to install an auto unit into a MT. You might not leave it in gear, but if you let someone borrow it and they left it in gear or you accidently left it in gear and started the car, it would move and the car could hit something or even worse; someone.

it doesnt matter anyway. ive installed literally hundreds of the RS-4LX units and the programming procedure wont allow it to work on a manual transmission. besides its a piece of junk, thats why i dont use or install them anymore. unfortunatly something else is gonna work better for you. i would really look into seeing if you can return it.

but see i've already bought the K-9 Eclipse and the only option for the remote start is this(rs-4lx).....i found some info that it will still work on the manual trans but the thing that is holding me back to install is the whole datalearning thing. i'm hopping that will not cause the remote start module to even try to start.

It will, and so it wont (start). unless theres some magic way around it i never knew about. but since you have it anyway why not try, cause is sounds like your going to anyway. call omega and explain the situation, maybe they can help you in some way?

another thing is, that remote start is not your only option. almost every remote start unit on the market has an external trigger wire that can be pulsed to activate the remote start the same way the RS-4LX works. you can still use your K-9 to activate something else through one of its channels (like trunk release or some other unused channel).

i like the rfid feature since i have some plans for push start button with out having the key......but that's in the way future....i found a way but it will have to wit until i install the whole unit. i will have to manually program the remote start by disconnecting wires so that it does the same thing as if it was programing automatically(datalearn)

sorry for the long update but i got the alarm installed and it works but not perfectly.
my car battery dies overnight if the alarm is armed and i dont get a confirmation when i remote start the car. i noticed on my remote that there should be a confirmation but i dont receive them. sometimes when the car fails to remote start, the alarm would go off. it's on a 05 mustang gt 5spd by the way. anyone heard of these problems?
also one of the remote took a dump on me. so im down to one remote and sucks because i bought the remote online so i dont know how i could get it warrantied.
