So heres my problem, I have a Valet 561r remote starter installed and everything works, remote starts with the key in the ign, runs without key once its started, etc . Problem is I have a 556hw bypass hooked up too but it just wont start. Do the 08s and up need a different bypass or something? Everywhere I've read says the 556hw works but they all refer to 07 and earlier models. And yes, I am using it in mode 1 with all the correct connections. The car can still start and run normally with the key, it just wont remote start.
i would suggest you get the fortin HONDA-SL3. easy to program and very easy to install.
i just looked at the diagram and that doesnt support the Honda fit...
I was really hoping I didnt have to find another bypass but I guess I'm going to have to. Any of you have personal experience with the honda-sl3? I dont want to end up getting another bypass and have it not work either.
i will say this.
the sl3 is the easiest to install, program and a very small unit as well. I would use this on any Honda 03 and below. anything newer than 03 i would use the canbus systems (KEY-OVERRIDE-ALL) to make it easier to install. But in your case, you already got all the wires ready to go. Just get a proper bypass and your set.
i used this specific bypass maybe 4 times
04 civic, 02 accord, 03 accord and 01 civic. no problems what so ever. i just remember i had a hard time getting the wires for the 02 accord. other than that, this bypass is great. you can also check out other companies that makes really good bypasses.
Bypasskits, iDataLink
I've always used dei's bypasses and theyve always worked fine but i just ran into problems with this fit. I've used a kit from bypasskits for an 07 camry before too and it was pretty nice.
Anyways, thanks for the info. I always forget to come here to the12volt before I start anything. I guess I really need to start doing some real research again for all these new cars these days. I hate transponders.
actually both the keyoverride and the sl3 have almost identical wiring
the only real difference is the programming the sl3 has a couple more steps than the keyoveride

The HONDA-SL3 can be reused. The KEYOVERRIDEALL can not.
