I found out I had this alarm installed in my car after replacing the battery. I posted this topic https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~110217~PN~2 and now have a replacement remote. So now I plugged the alarm back in and connected the battery. The alarm goes off when I open the door. So I leave the door open and connect the battery and nothing happens when I turn the key on and push the valet button but nothing happens. The alarm goes off as soon as I remove the key. I tried moving the valet programing / valet only jumper with the same result. Also checked the valet button with a ohm meter and works fine. So how do I disarm it so I can get it into programing mode?

Are you sure the valet switch is plugged in to the proper port? Check out this install guide. it should match your module. https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=431 It may also be that the valet has been programmed to disarm from 1 to 5 presses. So you have to go through the procedure up to 5 times. ------------- Ideal - cmon dude, add to topics in a useful manner, not stuff that is obvious.

Yes I checked it with the diagram on the back of the brain. Its a bit different from the diagram in that install guide. Also there are only 2 2-pin harnesses. One for the valet switch and one for the LED. The LED flashes so I assume thats in the right port.

If you followed the directions exactly, I can only assume that either the module isn't getting ignition or the module is defective. However, you know what happens when we assume. Try this: - 1. Remove the key.
- 2. Close the door.
- 3. Connect the battery, if the alarm sounds let it cycle until complete.
- 4. Open the door.
- 5. Turn the key to ignition.
- 6. Press the valet button once.
- 7. Turn the key off.
If it doesn't disarm, follow steps 5 through 7, increasing the number of times you press the valet button each time. If you reach 5 presses and it still doesn't disarm, I would look at the YELLOW ignition wire from the module. This should get 12v+ when the key is turned to ignition and crank. A few other tips: Make sure you turn on the ign and then press the valet button within 10 seconds of turning on the ign(any longer than that and it won't disarm). Also, I'm not sure if the door has to be closed or not to manualy disarm it, try doing it with the door closed.

Whoever installed this alarm needs to be shot. Its a giant rats nest of wires and electricial tape. Im going to take a few days and clean it up and replace the tape with wire clamps so I know nothing is shorting.

I think with DEI you disarm it like this:
1. Key on.
2. Key off.
3. Press and release vale button.
Try that, it might (or might not!) work.

A few questions. Is there any reason why the yellow (+ ignition input to alarm) was connected to a relay? The ouput of that wire was a constant 12 volts. Every terminal on that relay put out the same constant +12v. So I found a cliped wire that happened to be the ignition switched +12v I connected it to that yellow wire. I reattaced the battery and then the car started then locked the doors and the alarm went off. The 5 pin primary remote start harness is cut and has nothing but the yellow ignition switch input conected. The diagram on the back of the brain shows that harness just connects to the satellite relay but there is no info on the satellite relay box like a model # or diagram. So I dont know how to check to see if thats connected correctly or if it is even the origoinal( If someone strugled to get it working would explain why it looks like a 10 year olds science experment under my dash). Theres the 6 heavy gage wires then a 8 or 10 wire square harness and then on the other side is a small gage 2 and 3 and i think another 4 pin harnesses. So what usually gets connected between the brain to the satellite relay? Also it has a 555u installed and i was wondering since this unit is installed can I use a plain cut key copy to start the car? Iv only got one key and its starting to show wear and tare.
