I'm installing a Valet 562T on my 1989 Toyota Land Cruiser and need some help with the locks. I know the Toyota has a 4 wire reversal locking circuit controlled from the drivers door. In the manual for the 562 it states that it supplies +/- pulse. At this time it is outputting a +12v pulse and I do not see a negative pulse at all, do I have to set the module to output a - pulse or is there something else that I need to do? Thanks for any input. jeff

The lock/unlock circuit in DEI products, as well as others, uses a flip-flop design. That Means, when one is positive the other is negative and vise versa. That is a reason for diode isolation those outputs, as well.

Thanks for the response and another question. I checked the lock wires and I have 200 ohm on each wire to ground. When I push the lock or unlock button I get 12v on one side but no movement on the other wire, should that 200 ohms drop to 0 ohms temporarily, I get no visible movement on my meter? Also, I tapped into the door lock circuit right after the master switch, is that the right location?

I hope you're using relays!? Read this schematic.

According to the description I shouldn't need a relay am I reading it right?

On a 4-wire rest-at-open system like your Land Cruiser is equipped with, you will need either 4 separate relays or 2 451M doorlock modules, wired according to this diagram:

The 562T's outputs can only directly drive 3-wire (-) or 3-wire (+) doorlock systems.

Chris you're right I seem to remember doing one of these about 12 years ago and couldn't work out why I needed 4 relays, now it ties in with what you said recently about some GM product and my comment about London Taxis... rare but a real head scratcher.

Thanks for the advise, its been irking me to no end, it's good to finally have an answer. I will pick up 2 451M modules and give it a shot.

If you haven't already burned out the modules lock/unlock circuit then, yes.
